Design Engineer - Phoenix Vessel Technology

We are seeking a creative and innovative Design Engineer to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for taking product concepts from initial idea through to final production. You will collaborate with the rest of the team to design, develop, and test prototypes, ensuring all products meet technical specifications, safety standards, and cost requirements.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Research and design: Identify and research opportunities for new and improved products based on user needs, market trends, and technological advancements.
  • Modelling and prototyping: Use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software to develop 2D technical drawings and 3D models.
  • Testing and analysis: Build full scale physical prototypes, and perform rigorous testing to evaluate design viability, performance, and reliability, write well-structured test reports.
  • Design refinement: Analise test data and stakeholder feedback to iterate on and modify designs, troubleshooting issues until an optimal solution is reached.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including Bills of Materials (BoMs), technical datasheets, engineering drawings, and design manuals.
  • Project collaboration: Work closely with production and quality control teams to ensure a smooth transition of designs into production.
  • Compliance and standards: Ensure all designs comply with relevant PED & ASME industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements.

 

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certification or a Higher National Diploma (HND) may also be acceptable.
  • Experience: Prior experience in design-focused engineering role or relevant internships. Junior positions are also available for recent graduates.

 

Technical skills:

  • Proficiency with industry-standard CAD software (ideally SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong grasp of engineering principles, mathematics, and physics.
  • Knowledge of different materials and manufacturing processes.

 

Soft skills:

  • Creative problem-solving and innovative thinking.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet project deadlines.
  • A collaborative and adaptable team-player mindset.

 

Desirable qualifications:

  • Familiarity with specific standards (e.g., PED, ASME).
  • Prior experience in a related industry, such as GRP Presssure Vessels is desirable but not essential.
